Whether you’re moving into a new business premises and want to bring your energy account with you, or you’re planning on moving out of your current site and need to know what to do about your utilities, there’s plenty of information online that will help you in the transition.
If you’re moving premises, now would be a perfect opportunity to switch providers if you need to. You may find that your current bill is a little over the odds and you may think you could do better with the business electric prices from British Gas, or you may feel that switching providers will mean you could take advantage of a fixed tariff – either way, moving premises is an ideal time to get your energy finances in order.
If you’re moving out of your current premises, you need to inform British Gas (or whichever supplier who are signed up with) that you are moving. A month’s notice is recommended so that things can go as smoothly as possible. On your final moving day, give them up to date meter readings and organise an address for the final bill to be sent to.
When you move in to your new premises, let British Gas know that you are the new occupier as soon as you can, so that they can set up your energy supply. If you do this pronto, you won’t be charged deemed rates that are very expensive compared with your normal rates. In some cases, your supplier may already be providing energy to your new business address. In this event, you may be able to move over your current price plan so that you can continue benefiting from the tariff. If your chosen supplier doesn’t already have control of your new address, you can obtain a competitive quote by calling them.
The moving process doesn’t have to be a complicated or arduous one – keep the supplier informed and everything will run smoothly.
